Speed of light

Conducted an experiment to verify the speed of light using the time of flight method. This involved modulating a laser and comparing the output of a photodetector with the modulation signal. The shift between the two signals as the detector was moved yielded the speed of light.


Index of refraction of air

I used a Michelson interferometer to calculate the index of refraction of air by counting the number of fringes cycles through as air was let into a vacuum cell.

Telescope

I constructed a telescope that was attached to a CMOS camera to take images of objects far away. It was designed to have a HFOV of 7.5 degrees. I also created plots of the constant transfer function as a function of spatial frequency using the USAF imaging target shown above.
